I have been working on concepts for a large hotel chain since January, rethinking the hotel experience and bringing a new response to the needs of the 21st century traveller. Its been a fabulous project in which i have seen so many of my life's threads spun together and rearranged like being picked up in a tornado. Architecture, design, travel, local culture, art, painting, inventions. The things I've devoted my life to for the past three decades all swirling around in one experience. I've produced over three hundred drawings, paintings and sketches in the last three months, written pages of notes and lists, cut and pasted, talked with chefs and managers and executives and bellhops, and now it is coming to a close. I cant post the material because it belongs to the client. But its been a refreshing injection of urgency, spontaneity and invention at the beginning of a new year.
