Up at 4.50 to get to the Three Springs Land Trust Preserve for a dawn painting. Ended up doing a painting sitting inside the livestock barn where there was no sunrise to be seen (mercifully) and a lot of mice and a dead possum. Spent 5 hours working on a painting of a door and two fisherman's buoys but I cant upload it because I spent three hours framing my first four paintings at the Gallery, and now its downstairs in the back of my car, its 10.30 and I'm too tired to do the stairs.
This evening I went off into the hinterland and painted my first real landscape of the week. Inspired by the other 39 artists, all of whom are oil painters. 10 x 30 Watercolour. 3 1/2 hours. I'm definitely working more slowly on my paintings here.

It's a really lovely painting of a barn, but I have to say that my favorite part is the drippy edge!
ReplyDeleteThankvyou Emily. While I was painting it, towards the end a lovely family pulled off the road to come see me work (we all wear t shirts advertising the festival and inviting people to watch and interact.) They liked it too but were wondering what I would paint in the foreground or if I might clean up the drips. So... we have one yay and one nay on the drippy foreground. Me? I'll sleep on it and make my decision tomorrow...but I think you know what I'm going to decide.
ReplyDeletetell them it's arty and leave it. I think it's cool too :)
