Notes from Maine

Boothbay Harbour in the rain 2011

I'm in Maine, painting for two weeks, gathering information and ideas for my studio paintings for the next year. There's something to see everywhere I look, and the coastline is so complex that I know I'm missing so much everytime I drive past another country lane. I've spent the first week looking mostly at schooners and shrimp boats on the coastline but over the next week I hope to concentrate more on barns and farm structures.
I have 8 of my recent  graduates with me and its good to sit together around the huge farmhouse table every evening with our paintings and drawings to talk things through and work on new things.
