9.30-1pm (bring a sack lunch). Cost $220 (includes all art materials)

Discounted price $190 for siblings or for students attending both weeks.

One week, half day camps for children between 8 and 13 years of age.
Drawing and painting from real life and from the imagination.
Whether your child has a passion for art or is simply interested in trying something new and messy they will receive inspiration and instruction that will encourage their creativity to flourish. In the relaxed and non-competitive environment, children gain knowledge and confidence, while developing critical thinking skills.
We will explore drawing, painting and collage working both from observation and abstractly in a range of media.

Students who have attended before or who attend both camps this summer will be given more advanced curriculum building upon the skills already covered, including

Working from photographs instead of copying photographs

Continuous line drawing

Tonal techniques such as hatching and scribbling with style.

Mat Barber Kennedy has been a professional artist for twenty years exhibiting his work in galleries throughout Europe and the United States. He teaches painting and illustration at the American Academy of Art in Chicago and teaches drawing and painting workshops across the nation.
As part of the homeschooling community he is passionate about teaching and encouraging children to find their voices through art.

Classes will be held in the studios and gardens (weather permitting) at MBK Studios, 1706 S Halsted St. Chicago Illinois 60608

A 50% deposit is required to complete the registration process by cash, paypal or personal cheque. Balance is due on the first day of class.
